I intend to buy the art tube preamp, I need something else to do this work? The preamplifier can take both microphones and instruments, it's just a case of connecting mic / guitar, and then close the laptop? I'll just use Audacity to record. Thanks

The only reason I would need a sound card is best if they currently have is really quite dreadful - there is a motherboard with integrated sound card, and yet it would be for most records. If you have a laptop, you may need to buy an external sound card (like a Digidesign M-Box), if you want a new one.
As with most things, if you require better results a better team - but you can also spend a lot more with only marginal improvements in quality. Will ensure a better quality of a preamplifier and a couple of plugins and basic EQ - otherwise the quality, unless you want to work (in this case, you need a lot more about the EQ and mastering, etc. More) is probably enough.

The best thing to do is buy a program called Cubase Stienberg. This is a program to produce the music (the Sudio a registry for your laptop!)

My group is simply a microphone in a laptop and then daring and recording of all parties. You can get a cheap microphone, or use a singstar as we once!
Did you just get a webcam with microphone and a laptop =] x
